Raja Raghuvanshi
National New: Pandit Nand Kumar Pandey, the astrologer who facilitated Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi's marriage, has made public remarks that add a new layer to the shocking murder case. According to him, both Raja and Sonam were Mangliks, a significant astrological condition in Hindu belief, and had a compatibility score of 19.5 out of 36—enough to justify their union. “When one is Manglik, it’s important that the partner is also Manglik. That condition was met, and their Grah Maitri—planetary friendship—was strong,” Pandey told ANI. He added that even when other factors are weak, Grah Maitri alone can sanction a marriage.
After hearing about Raja and Sonam’s disappearance on TV, Pandey said he turned to astrology for insight. Using Hanuman Jyotish, he deduced that the missing individuals had headed east and that delays were likely in resolving the situation. In a further spiritual reading using Ram Shalaka Prashnavali, he found the sign fell in the Lanka Kanda section—typically symbolic of unresolved outcomes.
Pandey claims that further astrological consultation, including traditional Indian Panchang readings, pointed toward a female’s involvement. “It was Virgo ascendant at the time, and it clearly indicated feminine interference,” he revealed. He clarified that he never informed the family, as they hadn’t asked, and kept the reading within his household.
Expressing emotional conflict, Pandey stated that Sonam had grown up just four houses away from him and was known to his family since birth. “She studied with our children. I could never have imagined such a thing. This has deeply disturbed us all,” he said.
Sonam’s brother Govind, visibly shattered, has publicly demanded the death penalty for his sister if she is proven guilty. Pandey responded, “If her own brother is demanding capital punishment, it tells you how deep the betrayal runs. She has stained the dignity of womanhood.”
